These are photographs of 31-year-old Nuranthi
Ratnayake, a past pupil of Hillwood College, Kandy, who is lying in
a Scottish hospital, in desperate need of help.
On 3 September 2006, three days before
she was due to be married, Nuranthi suffered a brain haemorrhage. A
burst blood vessel, followed by a stroke, put her into a coma for several
weeks. Expert medical care at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh,
has helped her, though severely disabled due to her tragic condition,
to enter a phase of neuro-rehabilitation. As the accompanying letters
from Nuranthi’s physicians indicate, this process will require
a prolonged period (at least 6 months) of management in the Astley Ainslie
Hospital; and it is to help her family meet the expenses incurred in
providing this that we appeal to you for your generous support and financial
assistance. |
